What is Preventing Total Collapse in America?

Those who casually follow what's happening in this country sometimes wonder how the government has, so far, prevented mass civil unrest.  Sure loss of liberties creates tension in some corners of the nation.  However, most Americans only care about the economy and how it directly affects their pocketbooks.  So let's take a quick look.  We continue to have millions of families kicked to the curb as our criminal 'too big to fail' banks remain extremely busy foreclosing on homes everywhere.  Combine that with unemployment / underemployment being possibly worse than the Great Depression era (if you use the real numbers, not the fraudulent government data) and you have lots of extremely unhappy people.

If you follow economic news you know even the fudged jobs numbers continue to disappoint month after month.  It is now obvious the trillions in stimulus spending and widespread bailouts have done nothing except to set us up for something even worse.  Let's face it, the collapse is a 100% mathematical certainty at this point.  It's even worse than you realize!  Families must prepare now and avoid hardship, before it is too late.

If you are thinking the Occupy Wall Street Movement showed the result of these tough times then you are underestimating the seriousness of the situation.  That outdoor block party fizzled out when the media painted them as young drug addicted hippies after first attempting to completely ignore them.  So I am asking, what will it take to cause widespread civil unrest in this country?  What will finally break the camel's back?

The truth is that America continues to function because of the very robust welfare state.  During the Great Depression people really felt the effects of the economic downturn not because things were comparatively worse but because there was very little government assistance.  Fast forward to today and Obama's rapid expansion of welfare programs virtually 'seals the deal' on the citizenry's long term dependence on government.  For example, and as shocking as it sounds, more people went on the Government's disability program than net new jobs were created for the month of June.  I, for one, refuse to participate in any of these dependency programs and instead make ends meet by filling out online surveys here.  Not too glamorous, I know, but hey it pays the bills and keeps me self-reliant.  If you are lucky enough to actually have a job and are able to save, do yourself a favor and convert the funny money into either or gold or silver.
Alternatively, and many are now fully embracing this, you can throw your hands up and no longer even seek work as the government will take care of you.  SNAP, the government's fancy name for food stamps, now serves nearly 47 million Americans.  Others peasants are now in the latter part of their epic 99-week unemployment benefits.  Most of these 99ers will shift to long term disability ensuring that the checks keep rolling in.  Disability is really hot right now!

The government has grown so much and so fast that, by some estimates, it now makes up nearly half the economy with a confirmed half of US households receiving some form of handout from Uncle Sam!  This is astonishing to me.  How about you?  You awake?  If so please comment on this article and give us your personal view.

If not for the welfare state a civil war or low level insurgency would already be well underway.  Indeed one of the few retail markets doing well these days is the guns & ammo niche.  I am not advocating violence whatsoever.  I'm simply pointing out methods our government uses to subdue the dumbed down peasants.  Never mind that we cannot afford to be paying all these benefits as our debt to GDP nears 102 percent.  It doesn't matter that we are living in an unsustainable banana republic economy.  Who actually cares about how such in your face fiscal irresponsibly and recklessness will ultimately become the burden of the young and the unborn.

For now, it remains unclear how the crisis will unfold and how long government can keep the masses clueless about the dire situation.  Will we go the way of Europe and finally implement austerity programs enraging the delusional citizenry who refuse to accept drastically reduced benefits?  Alternatively, will we simply continue on our path, avoiding reality, and print our way into a hyper-inflationary depression?  I believe the latter is more likely as our politicians cannot face the aging voters with very upsetting news (death panels or death camps).  Regardless, the future is dark, martial law will be implemented and millions will die as a result which may end up confirming the globalists' plans for total global enslavement.
